Our Beginning
Our story begins in 1916 when Peter Sr., an Armenian immigrant, came to the United States. Peter Sr. brought with him a desire to succeed, a dedication to his community, and an intellectual curiosity that would shape his family’s legacy in America. Peter Sr. made roots in the United States, becoming a leader in his local community, and starting his first business with his brother Tom in 1919.
Entrepreneurial Spirit
Peter Sr. started many traditions to pass on his values of hard work and curiosity to his family. Of these traditions, one defined the trajectory of his family for decades to come. Family brainstorming night was a weekly event in which Peter Sr. would discuss with his children common problems and how to solve them. This tradition helped instill the entrepreneurial spirit in Peter Sr.’s children, who would each go on to develop businesses. Peter Jr., whose mind was always churning with excitement on family brainstorming night, would go on to innovate new products from mops to birdfeeders to Handee Pockets.
Handee Pockets
Peter does a lot of cleaning these days and was looking for a better solution for his daily clean. Microfiber was a great material, but the traditional cloth had some drawbacks and Peter wondered how it could be used to make cleaning easier. He brought this to the family brainstorming session that Sunday night and Handee Pockets was born! Through our commitment to trade schools, we are committing to students across the country by giving them the opportunity to explore their curiosities and acquire skills that will enable them future success. Curiosity and imagination defined our family’s legacy, and we want everyone to have the opportunity to earn an education–especially in the all-important trade professions.
